Full weekend and Single Day Tickets On Sale Now www.thefesty.com

Charlottesville, VA —   The 8th Annual Festy Experience takes place October 5-8, 2017 in the Blue Ridge Bowl at Infinity Downs Farm, a 387-acre property in Arrington, Virginia (also the new home of LOCKN’ Festival) at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Festy aims to give the ultimate laid back festival experience which is fun for the entire family: camping, outdoor activities, craft food and beer, daily yoga, the 22nd Annual Blue Ridge Burn (5k/10k), and stellar music! This year’s lineup includes The Infamous Stringdusters, Ani DiFranco, Drive-By Truckers, Elephant Revival, Sam Bush Band, Beats Antique, The Jerry Douglas Band, Joan Osborne, and lots more.

The Festy Experience is thrilled to announced the daily schedule of music for the Blue Ridge Outdoors Stage and the Skyline Tent Stage, with no overlapping sets between the two stages! Head on over to the newly revamped website to check it out.

Thursday brings the full moon and sees host band The Infamous Stringdusters close out the evening out on the Skyline Tent Stage just following Beats Antique’s set on Blue Ridge Outdoors Stage. Others performing on Thursday include Danny Barnes & Nick Forster, Sierra Hull, and Gallatin Canyon.

Sam Bush Band closes out Friday night the Blue Ridge Outdoors Stage, following early evening performances by The Infamous Stringdusters and Della Mae. EmiSunshine & Friends have an afternoon set on the Blue Ridge Outdoors Stage and Emi is the MC host for that stage the entire weekend. Cabinet will rock out the late night set on the Skyline Tent Stage and other Friday performers on the stage include Carl Anderson and Erin Lunsford.

Saturday is packed with performances including Drive-By Truckers, Ani DiFranco, and Elephant Revival on the Blue Ridge Outdoors Stage. That day, Skyline Tent Stage features The Travelin McCourys, Sarah Siskind & Sunliner, Phoebe Hunt & The Gatherers, and Maggie Koerner. There’s also a Kids Parade and Jam at 11:30am.

Sunday sets on the Blue Ridge Outdoors Stage include The Jerry Douglas Band, The Infamous Stringdusters, and Joan Osborne Sings the Songs of Bob Dylan. The stage kicks off with the Garrettgrass Gospel Hour that morning (featuring Jeremy Garrett of The Infamous Stringdusters and EmiSunshine, as well as members of Shook Twins, Elephant Revival, and more.) Sunday Skyline Tent Stage performances include Shook Twins, Billy Strings, Love Canon, and Dori Freeman.

Family fun is key throughout the Festy all weekend long; along with a family camping area, there will be a large kids area, a teen zone, a kids instrument making workshop, as well as other family activities. Kids activities in the Little Planets Kids Zone will include Children’s Jams, Magic Shows, Balloon Animals & Bubble Making, Kids Drum & Didgeridoo Workshops w/ Jim Gagnon, Costume Making for the Kid’s Parade on Saturday and more!

Notably, half of the lineup consists of female artists, The Festy Experience Director Michael Allenby says, “We recognize that the previous version of the music industry is hurting and can not invest in artists and progress their careers. It is now the promoter’s job to evolve the industry and we believe that gender equality is a critical issue. Other industries often claim that gender inequality is a ‘pipeline issue’ that will take a long time to evolve; however, there’s no shortage of amazing female artists and performers. The marketing of this talent happens AT festivals… not just FOR festivals… we are challenging promoters to make social progress a priority in all aspects of large-scale community gatherings.”

Tickets are on sale now and there are plenty of options including Weekend Camping, Car Camping, Family Camping, RV (powered or non-powered options), Individual Day, and Weekend-Day Passes with addition parking fees added on depending on your needs. Kids under 12 are free and there are special rates for teens (13-17). All Weekend Access Tickets include Thursday Arrival (making it 4 days total over Columbus Day weekend). Single Day tickets are also available now. Get your tickets now a pricing increases on September 5th!

To help in sustainability efforts to eliminate all waste from single-use plastic cups, every All Weekend ticket comes with a free commemorative steel pint cup from The Festy’s Partner, Klean Kanteen, which they can use for free water from filling stations placed throughout site as well as beer purchases.

Lodging Upgrades are also available offering all the fun, with none of the hassle. ASHEVILLE — Jon Stickley Trio is on tour with Maybe Believe, their 3rd independently released full length album [May 12, 2017]. Jon Stickley Trio combines Jon Stickley’s rapid-fire flatpicking guitar with the sultry and wild, yet refined, melodies of Lyndsay Pruett on violin set over the deep groove of Patrick Armitage on drums.

Jon Stickley Trio has been touring the States extensively this year and kicks off September at the Jackpine Jamboree in Wisconsin and then they’ll spend a week at Sisters Folk Fest in Oregon with workshops and performances. Mid-month brings them around to the northeast before playing out the rest of September back in midwest. After a quick break in their hometown of Asheville, NC, they head  west with a stop in Colorado before a handful of shows in California, including the Joshua Tree Music Festival. Then the road brings them up through Utah and Wyoming before a few more Colorado shows. They close out October by joining in on the Halloween fun at String Cheese Incident’s Suwannee Hulaween down in northern Florida at the Spirit of Suwannee Music Park.

In early November the Trio heads into Virginia for a couple of shows before traveling back into Florida for the Riverhawk Fest and more performances throughout the state. The end of the month brings the Trio back up towards their home-state for a scattering of shows and to rest up a bit before heading out in early December to Strings and Sol in Puerto Morelos, a Mexican port town on the Caribbean coast of the Yucatán Peninsula where they join in on Cloud 9’s annual 4-night all-inclusive Tropical Bluegrass Adventure with Yonder Mountain String Band, Greensky Bluegrass, Railroad Earth, Leftover Salmon, The Infamous Stringdusters, Fruition, and Bryan Sutton. To close out the year they have a special New Year’s Eve Celebration in their hometown of Asheville at Isis Music Hall with The Digs!

Stay tuned to Jon Stickley Trio’s website and social networks for more dates to be announced and updates from the road.

LIVE OAK, FL — Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park is pleased to announce additions to the lineup for Suwannee Roots Revival taking place in Live Oak, Florida October 12-15, 2017. The already incredible lineup is expanded to include Mother’s Finest, Chatham County Line, The Revelers, The Lee Boys, Richie and Rosie, Katie Skene, LPT, The Dunehoppers, and The Walker Family Band.

Artists previously announced include Béla Fleck and Abigail Washburn, The Wood Brothers, Peter Rowan Dharma Blues featuring Jack Casady, Donna the Buffalo, Steep Canyon Rangers, Rev Jeff Mosier Band, Willie Sugarcapps and more! See the complete lineup below.

The family friendly festival includes four days of music, camping, campground pickin’ sessions hosted by Sloppy Joe at Slopryland and Quartermoon at Bill Monroe Shrine, the Dance Tent, hands on and performance workshops, yoga, a Kids Tent, and much more! Hosted by long time friends of the park Randy Judy and Beth Judy, Suwannee Roots Revival focuses on amazing roots music that ties together a weekend laced with community based fun, growing friendships, laughing families, and that feel good feeling you get from hanging out in such a beautiful natural setting.

Get ready to rock out with Mother’s Finest, a funk rock band founded in Atlanta, Georgia by Joyce Kennedy and Glenn Murdock in the early 1970s. The group charted with the singles “Fire,” “Baby Love,” “Don’t Wanna Come Back,” “Love Changes,” and “Piece Of The Rock” in the mid to late 1970s. Known internationally, for their fusion of Funk, Rock, Gospel, R&B Metal, and Jazz, they are incomparable and unique in their ability to bring it to you in concert. And now after several year’s quiet, they’re still one of the best LIVE bands on the planet and we are happy to host them for their debut appearance at SOSMP

Raleigh, NC based Bluegrass band Chatham County Line made their debut appearance at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheater opening for the Avett Brothers this July and we are eager for them to perform at Suwannee Roots Revival this Fall! They’ve been traveling the country with their most recent Yep Roc album release, Autumn. Pop Matters says, “They are masterful pickers and varied songwriters capable of creating an infectious backdrop for their audiences to behold with their innovative, masterclass harmonies.”

The Revelers combine Cajun, Country, Blues and Zydeco into a powerful tonic of roots music straight from southwest Louisiana that’s sure to get you moving. The Revelers include founding members of the Red Stick Ramblers and The Pine Leaf Boys, two of the groups unquestionably at the vanguard of the Louisiana cultural renaissance. The band’s second full-length album, Get Ready, featured all original material and was nominated for a GRAMMY in 2016. OffBeat Magazine calls them “groove bound and dance compelling.”

The Lee Boys are one of America’s finest sacred steel ensembles bringing forth what eTown calls a ““powerhouse, gospel-influenced sound.” Although this style of music was virtually unknown outside the House of God church until the past decade, the music has a rich history dating back to the 1930’s. The Lee Family has been an integral part of both the church and its music for decades and has made a plethora of appearances at the Spirit of Suwannee Music Park over the years.

The Dance Tent will feature organized dance sets along with performance sets designed to get your body moving! The Dunehoppers return with their classic take on Contra and Square Dance. There will be brief instruction prior to each of the organized dance sets. The Walker Family Band will feature incredible music designed for the Waltz. Jacksonville’s LPT, an Afro-Cuban band will get hips moving with opportunity for Salsa and other Latin Dance. And then for your fix of Cajun/Zydeco, The Revelers will bring that Louisiana gumbo mix right to Live Oak!

Suwannee Roots Revival will feature a special set of Guy Clark music presented by Verlon Thompson and Shawn Camp. Guy Clark made his first appearance at Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park at the 2nd Annual Suwannee Springfest in 1998 and he joined the Suwannee Family every spring over the next 14 years with only a couple exceptions due to illness. Both Verlon and Shawn have a long history of not only performing with Guy, but also co-writing with him. So many of the Guy songs we’ll hear them share weave parts of their personal histories with Guys into the magical world the songs create. We are delighted to pay tribute to Guy Clark with this performance by two of his favorite performers and friends.

The festival pays tribute and remembers our beloved artists who have passed on with our memorial Vassar Sunday. There will also be a special set to honor the amazing and legendary Col. Bruce Hampton – details will be forthcoming.

Fall is a wonderful time to reconnect with nature and enjoy the garden and we are thrilled to offer a Permaculture Action Day Workshop on Thursday, Oct 12th, 10am – 1pm called “The Low Maintenance Food Forest.” Food forests can be very low maintenance gardening solution and create food independence for you and your family. Learn the basics of maintaining a food forest as part of our series of educational, hands-on learning experiences. Chop and drop, natural mulching and fertilizing techniques, laying seeds for winter crops and beneficial bugs will be covered in this workshop. Our partners Great Southern Forestry and Grow Here Now will answer questions about bringing permaculture principles to your garden. Space is limited.

Wilderness And Space.jpg

The Contribution’s Newest Single, “Wilderness And Space” Released on LoHi Records August 18
Benefiting Piedmont Land Conservancy

Available now →  cdbaby.com | iTunes | Amazon

The Contribution is:
Tim Carbone, Phil Ferlino, Jeff Miller, Keith Moseley, Sheryl Renee, Matt Butler, and Duane Trucks

Since this February, The Contribution have been living up to their name and giving back with each song. They have been releasing one single a month, as sort of a mid-month pick-me-up since February 2017 and have partnered with a variety of nonprofits to which 100% of the profits from each single (sold as a digital download) will go to a charity (hand-picked by members of the band) in perpetuity. Nonprofits involved include Rex Foundation, Conscious Alliance, HeadCount, Rock the Earth, The Delaware Riverkeeper Network, BCEF, and Piedmont Land Conservatory.

The Contribution is the brainchild of Tim Carbone of Railroad Earth (violin, guitar, vocals) together with Phil Ferlino (keyboards, vocals) and Jeff Miller (guitar, vocals) of New Monsoon. Keith Moseley (String Cheese Incident), has been the bass player from the band’s inception along with vocalist Sheryl Renee (The Black Swan Singers). The drum chair has been occupied by Jason Hann (String Cheese Incident), Matt Butler (Everyone Orchestra), and currently Duane Trucks (Widespread Panic). Both Matt Butler and Duane Trucks appear on the band’s new record, Wilderness And Space. The full ten song album will be released on vinyl this Fall on LoHi Records and reveals the group’s love of 60s pop and soul coupled with their ability to flat-out shred.

They release their newest single “Wilderness And Space” on Friday, August 18, 2017 and it will benefit Piedmont Land Conservatory. The song is a stream of consciousness tone poem about dealing with life like a compassionate warrior. What a fitting song as Piedmont Land Conservancy protects the region’s natural lands, farms and waters for present and future generations. To date, PLC has protected nearly 23,000 acres of North Carolina’s Piedmont.

Tim Carbone tells Shows I Go To about how the nonprofits were selected, “I put it to the band at large and asked them, ‘What do you feel strongly about?’LoHi Records labelmate, Jim Brooks, suggested Piedmont Land Conservatory as he has held events to raise money for them in the past.

Brooks says, “When Tim approached me about LoHi releasing The Contribution I loved the idea of combining great music to support great causes. By way of Piedmont Land Conservancy’s annual LandJam concert featuring the very best names in live Americana roots music (this year’s event features Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn) to further its cause of protecting the Piedmont’s treasured natural spaces, it was a no brainer. I mean, the title, ‘Wilderness and Space,’ couldn’t be a better fit for PLC’s mission and legacy, right? I appreciate Tim inviting PLC to be part of such a unique and worthy musical endeavor.”

Carbone continues about the non-profits involved, “Matt Butler said we should go for the Rex Foundation. Keith wanted Conscious Alliance, who I have also worked with before. Phil suggested Rock the Earth. I thought we would go with HeadCount because I am politically motivated. They don’t choose sides, they just encourage people to register to vote. When you don’t vote, bad things happen. I think we found that out.”

The Delaware Riverkeeper Network is located nearby where Carbone is from and they do wonderful work in protecting the waterways, including the drinking water of nearly 17 Million people, throughout the entire Delaware River Watershed which includes Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and New York.

Tim says, “I wrote the words to ‘This Too Shall Pass’ for our guitar player Jeff after his mother passed away from breast cancer.” He says they did some searching and found BCEF, Breast Cancer Emergency Fund in SF Bay area, to pair up with that song. All songs were written and produced by Tim Carbone, Phil Ferlino, and Jeff Miller.

The song “Wilderness And Space” features Carbone on lead vocals, electric guitar and oramics machine, Miller on electric guitars and background vocals, Ferlino on piano, organ, synthesizers and background vocals,  Sheryl Renee on background vocals, Keith Moseley on bass, and Duane Trucks on drums. The bring in guest additions of Linda Kistler and Christopher Souza on violin, Marsha Cahn on viola, Agnieszka Rybska on cello, and Jay Rattman for the string arrangement and as the conductor. The song was recorded at Silo Sound Studio in Denver, CO and Engineered by Todd Divel. Additional recording by Don Sternaker at Mix-o-Lydian Studios in Delaware Water Gap, PA.

Carbone says, “We feel blessed to be able to make this music and have it help people in need… and we would like to empower those who share our passion and provide a resource for them to take action with us.”
