BurritoBrothersThis is no April Fool joke… The Burrito Brothers are joining the lineup of great artists for Jam In The Trees which takes place at Pisgah Brewing Company in Black Mountain, NC on Friday and Saturday, August 26-27, 2016.

Trace the winding paths of Country, R&B and Rock & Roll and you’ll find The Burrito Brothers there along with their contemporaries like Poco, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Commander Cody, Creedence Clearwater Rival, New Riders, Pure Prairie League and many others. That’s home turf for The Burrito Brothers. Country Rock’s big bang came in Los Angeles in the late ‘60s. In 1968, Ian Dunlop and Barry Tashian started The Flying Burrito Brothers. A year later with Gram Parsons and Chris Hillman aboard, the group released their first LP, “The Gilded Palace of Sin”, a confirmed legendary classic which is on the Rolling Stone Magazine’s list of Greatest Albums of All Time. The band has continued to celebrate this musical legacy and serve up fresh contributions to The Burrito Brothers incredible body of work. They’ve never fallen short of being outstanding and they certainly are today. The current Burrito Brothers line-up is Chris P James – vocals, keyboards, guitar; Fred James- vocals, guitars, dobro; Tony Paoletta – pedal steel guitar; Jody Maphis – bass, guitars, vocals; and Peter Young – drums, percussion, vocals.

As the dearly departed Gram Parsons aptly stated in 1972, “The idea’ll keep going…it’s not like it’s dead…whether I do it or anybody else does, it’s got to keep going!”

MilkDrive in Black Mountain, N.C.

9 p.m. Friday, September 28

Pisgah Brewing

150 Eastside Dr.
Free Show

www.milkdrive.com

Contemporary jazz-grass band MilkDrive features award-winning instrumentalists Brian Beken on fiddle and lead vocals, Noah Jeffries on guitar and harmony vocals, Dennis Ludiker on mandolin and harmony vocals, and Matt Mefford on double bass. Fueled by equal parts tradition and innovation, MilkDrive delivers a distinctive acoustic experience marked by sophisticated arrangements and fierce musicianship. The Austin-based band’s second studio album, WAVES, featuring Noam Pikelny (Punch Brothers) and Futureman (Bela Fleck & the Flecktones) was released in June.
.
“Their new album, Waves, is as informed by pop songwriting and jazz breaks as it is by Bill Monroe, so don’t let the presence of all acoustic instruments and a hefty slice of banjo, guitar, fiddle, and mandolin-driven Americana fool you. While they’re not the first group to take bluegrass into chamber ensembles and jazz clubs, they are playing it the hardest, never losing sight of how much fun the music should be!” –Prescription Bluegrass
