Denver, CO — Meeting on the Mountain, a new collaborative recording and live broadcast experience, kicks off their inaugural event on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 7pm at Cervantes’ Other Side in Denver, CO. Joining host band, Grant Farm, for this first Meeting on the Mountain are Bill Nershi of The String Cheese Incident, Dead Winter Carpenters, and Benny “Burle” Galloway. The rousing live one-hour broadcast includes performances as well as interviews with each act and gives Grant Farm the opportunity to collaborate with some of their favorite musicians.

There will be five installments of Meeting on The Mountain in 2015 featuring a variety of artists. Each event is hosted by Tyler Grant with The Grant Farm as the house band. It will be recorded, video-streamed live, and rebroadcast at meetingonthemountain.com. The broadcast is followed by a concert with sets from each band. Get your tickets and join them live, or if  you are far from Denver tune in the live video stream at meetingonthemountain.com.

The Meeting on the Mountain concept was inspired by a collaborative 4-song EP, entitled Meeting on the Mountain (Sept 2014), which features music by The Grant Farm with Fruition. The song, “Meet me on the Mountain” (written by Fruition’s Jay Cobb Anderson and Tyler Grant) conjures a laid back campfire sing-a-long vibe which embodies the spirit of the new Meeting on the Mountain series and is also the theme song for it.

Meet the March 1st Meeting on the Mountain Players:

Bill Nershi has delighted countless fans as a guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and founding member of the String Cheese Incident, Honkytonk Homeslice and The Emmitt-Nershi Band, and has performed from the saloons of Telluride to the some of the most sought after venues in America . A seasoned veteran of flat-picking and a variety of acoustic styles, Bill adds a unique, colorful perspective to virtually any musical situation he encounters, and his enthusiasm and playful spirit encourage an interactive, participatory experience for musicians and fans alike. Billy still calls Colorado home and when he’s not on tour he is writing, recording and producing in his own studio, The Sleeping Giant.

Dead Winter Carpenters, hailing from North Lake Tahoe, CA,  represents everything the American west stands for. The band seamlessly blends Americana with roots rock and a tinge of straightforward ‘tell-it-like-it-is’ alt. country for hard-hitting performances that are as edgy as they are whimsical. The project pushes and pulls at musical boundaries with top-notch, live performances while walking the line with unexpected world music flair. With an unbridled spirit, and an authentic approach to the art of songwriting, the five-piece captures the freedom of the road with the kind of energy that is made of legends.

The five-piece outfit consists of fiddler/vocalist Jenni Charles, upright bassist/vocalist David Lockhart, guitarists/vocalists Jesse Dunn and Bryan Daines, and drummer/vocalist Brian Huston.

Benny “Burle” Galloway, resident colorado songwriting collaborator and musician who’s first experience at Telluride Bluegrass Festival in 1978 set off his embracement of what true American music stood for. Having moved to Denver in his teens with a guitar and a stack of records, Galloway found the area teemed with progressive sounds, plenty of like minded people to play music with, an abundance of music friendly events, and places to pick and sing. After hearing Hot Rize, John Hartford, Norman Blake, New Grass Revival and Leon Russell, it was evident to “Burle” that he had just found a deep well from which to draw new musical ideas and directions. Burle absorbed every sound available from rock to gospel and began crafting his powerful songwriting skills.

The sights and sounds of the country, no matter what part of the country, are what remain the backbone of his compositions. His lyrics spawn melodies that sound like they’re one hundred years old. Colorado’s Front Range was (and still is) a hot-bed of acoustic music,Jams, festivals, and pickin-parties with Burle right in the middle of it all, writing and recording vast amounts of material. As the years passed, Burle found himself working with new and established performers as a member of roots bands, duos, trios, four pieces and more. A lot of these musical situations were built around his tunes, featuring him as a front man, a lead vocalist, guitar and/or bass player.

In the past decade, Burle has collaborated and played with the finest of musicians and bands in America. His longtime producer and friend Sally Van Meter, Scott Law, Nick Forster, Jerry Douglas, Yonder Mountain String Band, Danny Barnes, Larry and Jenny Keel, Darol Anger, Sam Grisman, John and Rebecca Frazier, Rob Wasserman, Shawn Camp, Jon Wiesberger, Travis Book, Mark Epstein, Robin Davis, Jon Stickley, Tyler Grant Jordan Ramsey, Pete Kartsounes, The Infamous Stringdusters, Leftover Salmon, Great American Taxi, Emmitt Nershi Band, Head for the Hills, The Grant Farm, Broke Mountain, The Wayword Sons, Town Mountain, Espresso!

The host band, Grant Farm is a band on a mission. Lead by National Flatpicking Guitar Champion Tyler Grant (Emmitt/Nershi Band), the talented four-piece is built on the foundation of love, family and the joy of music. The permanent lineup of Grant Farm is Tyler “The Champ” Grant on electric guitar and vocals, uber-talented Adrian “ACE” Engfer on bass and vocals, rock solid Sean “Magic” Macaulay on drums and the phenomenally prodigious Kevin McHugh on keyboards.

The Grant Farm train stops at all stations on the North American roots music line, and is not afraid to let the whistle scream with some blistering jams. After several solid seasons of touring Coast-to-Coast behind their eponymous 2012 debut album, Grant Farm and the 2014 follow up, Plowin’ Time (#2 JamBand Radio Charts), audiences everywhere are a-buzz with the Roots, Rock and Cris-Co statement that Grant Farm brings to every performance. In September 2014 Grant Farm collaborated with the band Fruition to release Meeting on the Mountain, which reached #8 on the JamBand Radio charts and #148 on the AMA Radio Charts.

Doors open at 8pm with the show starting at 9pm; the show is $15 and 21+.

IMG_0227Derrick Parker AKA Dr Dubenstein hails from Washington, DC and has worked at Lion and Fox Recording Studios and is known as “a reggae dub master from another world.” Currently on tour doing FOH for the band Steel Pulse but has been worked that position with many other acts like Rebelution, SOJA, Karl Denson, The Wailers, Yellowman, The Itals, Don Carlos and the list goes on. Dr Dubenstein plays a unique style of reggae consisting of effects and samples but with a live band set in the middle of the audience.

Dr. Dubenstein is a reggae dub master from another world.  A deranged man of science who was rumored to be conducting dub experiments in his laboratory where he would tie up patients and expose them to endless hours of the most insane dub reggae rhythms while depriving them of sleep and food.  (it is rumored that not a single patient was able to keep his sanity after those ordeals.)  The Doctor was born in 580 A.D. in section C, row 15, seat 23 of the transport vessel Enigma while en route to Klacmata from West Ardevor.  He apparently only uses Earth terminology when it is appropriate and will shock you beyond belief with his reggae dub sound.

Desi HysonDesmond ’Desi’ Hyson is a prolific songwriter and producer and plays keyboards, guitar and sings lead vocals, mostly in the reggae genre. Desi hails from the Caribbean Island of Dominica and immigrated to the U.S. in the 1970’s. He currently resides in the Washington DC area. Growing up in Dominica, Desi listened to Nat King Cole and Motown greats such as Curtis Mayfield. In the early 1980’s, he became a member of Moja Nya, which is a band established by some of his friends from Dominica. He worked and toured and recorded under that name up until 1997 when he was asked to join and tour with the famed reggae group Culture, featuring the legendary singer/songwriter Mr. Joseph Hill.  After working with Mr. Hill, Desi then embarked on his own projects and while working on a self titled CD, was approached in 2009 to work with The Original Wailers, featuring Al Anderson, lead guitarist with Bob Marley and The Wailers. The Original Wailers at that time were seeking a songwriter/singer/ producer to add to their roster and Desi fit the bill. In 2010, Desi went to the studio with The Original Wailers and recorded, wrote, co-wrote, and co- produced all the songs on the CD, except the song “Our Day Will Come.” The CD was released in 2012 and was nominated for a Grammy for Best Reggae Album, 2012.

In 1994, Desi wrote and produced a CD entitled “A Moment in Meditation” for Moja Nya of which the single entitled “Paradise,” became a mainstay on the B.E.T. show Caribbean Rhythms in 1996. The second single “Memory of Marley” is still featured on XM radio on Bob Marley’s birthday.

Tuff LTuff Lion is multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter & producer who’s highly skilled musicianship has been a major force behind the tidal wave of music that has come out of the Virgin Islands in recent years. His signature sound can be heard on almost every I-Grade Records release to date, which includes artists like NiyoRah, Abja, Army, Midnite, Dezarie, Danny I, Yahadanai and more, as well as his own all instrumental album Ten Strings, that came out in the summer of ’08 and is getting massive praise worldwide! While no longer associated with Bambu Station, his presence both on stage and in the studio played a big role in bringing them to the reggae world’s attention.

A veteran in this bizness, who’s good works can be heard far and wide, and in no way are limited to the sounds of the V.I. Tuff Lion has recorded, produced and toured with such artists as The Itals, Jr. Marvin (The Wailers), Apple Gabriel (Israel Vibrations), Sahra Indio, Iba, King Cephas, Pressure, Ijah Menelik, Army, Lady Passion, Ras Attitude, Batch, Malika Madremana, Sista Kat, Mada Nile, Volcano, Messenjah Selah, Bless Noble… and the list goes on. The ever growing number of albums he has played on is in the realm of 50+ so far.

The Everyone Orchestra has announced three northern California shows in March of 2015. Conducted by Matt Butler, this performance will feature Kris Meyers (Umphrey’s McGee), Joel Cummins (Umphrey’s McGee), Jamie Kime (Zappa Plays Zappa), Ben Thomas (Zappa Plays Zappa), and Kai Eckhardt (John McLaughlin Trio/Garaj Mahal). They pay Thursday, March 26th at City Winery in Napa, CA, Friday, March 27th at Harlow’s in Sacramento, CA, and Saturday, March 28th at Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, CA. More guests for each show will be announced.

Butler has been leading a rotating cast of accredited musicians through full-length shows that are entirely improvised, since 2001, after touring with the rock band Jambay. In 2012, Butler gathered particularly well-known musicians from bands like Phish, Moe., and others, and recorded Everyone Orchestra’s first studio album, Brooklyn Sessions [2012], which was still largely improvised.

“The experience of playing with different musicians, improvising every night, and getting the crowd involved in ways that they can’t be at a regular show has provided an unparalleled live music experience,” said Butler.

The Everyone Orchestra conductor/founder Matt Butler has taken its participants, both on stage and off, on improvisational journeys with the most diverse of lineups at festivals, theaters and philanthropic events both nationally and internationally. A laundry list of hundreds of musicians, dancers, singers, guest conductors and community organizations have embraced the experience of EO in single shots of musical adrenaline to the soul. Tuning in to his energy, the band and audience utilize The Conductor as their pivot to the set mood of each passing jam as he communicates with the musicians using hand signs, whiteboard and assorted mime suggestions.

The list of Everyone Orchestra participants is an increasingly wide and intercontinental group including members of The Grateful Dead, Phish, Furthur,  Ratdog, Trey Anastasio Band, Gov’t Mule, String Cheese Incident, moe., members of Allman Brothers Band. including Oteil Burbridge, Yonder Mountain String Band, The New Mastersounds, Big Gigantic, The Punch Brothers, Dumpstaphunk, Galactic, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Railroad Earth, Thievery Corporation, Lettuce, Infamous Stringdusters, Leftover Salmon, The Flecktones, Club d’Elf, ALO, Tea Leaf Green, Tuvan throat singers, live painters, dancers, chanters, choirs, hula hoopers, firespinners, jugglers, stiltwalkers, storytellers, a presidential candidate and hundreds of others among a growing legion of other performers.

Marching clearly into uncharted territory, The Everyone Orchestra balances the challenges of live group improvisation with triumphant tension and release conduits of music which head deep into the soul. This unique collaborative of performance deeply encourages and requires audience interaction.  The edge of your seat enthusiasm for what is next is the fuel behind the continuous musical experiment of The Everyone Orchestra.
