More info about film mentor, Ben Lovett’s ‘Eye of the Storm’:
“The self-released first single, “Eye of the Storm,” showcases Lovett’s uncanny knack for storytelling and production with its haunting vocals and acoustic guitar expertly melded with somber cello and violin into a lush watercolor of sound. The song’s visual counterpart, directed by Chris Alender of Soapbox Films, is a stunning steampunk masterpiece that became a viral sensation, generating over 2 million plays in its first month.” ~ http://themusebox.net/lovett:

“Set in a visually arresting steampunk world, ‘Eye of the Storm’ is the epic tale of a lonely sky captain who must literally and figuratively brave a raging tempest in order to find his salvation on the other side. Featuring the music by Lovett” ~ http://atlanta.bside.com/2011/films/eyeofthestorm_christopheralender_atlanta2011

Lingua Musica streams live online from the White Horse in Black Mountain on Wednesday, September 29th at 7pm at www.linguamusicalive.com.

WNCW midday host Joe Kendrick hosts the show, which showcases a rotating cast of musicians, music journalists, and industry professionals as panelists who talk about music news, history, and culture while inviting the audience to take part. Kendrick has produced the music-based talk show “What It Is” weekdays on WNCW since October 2007. Lingua Musica is ran independently by Kendrick and few others in the community. The pilot show was held August 12th.

Arch-itects of Sound

AUGUST 25, 2010 www.boldlife.com

BY ROBIN TOLLESON

Bele Chere is bigger, but LAAFF may be better.

The Lexington Avenue Arts and Fun Fest, sponsored by Arts 2 People, is more distinctively Asheville. Local artists and artisans get to shine, and stages welcome the area’s more interesting musical acts, like The Archrivals, fronted by keyboardist/vocalist Chuck Lichtenberger. Lichtenberger delivers engaging, provocative pop in his alter-ego role as the party-leading Archrival, retro-hoopster sporting Afro and shades, 6th man off the bench for the Dominican Republic National Team.

Lichtenberger is best known from his work with indie-rockers Stephanie’s Id. The Archrivals’ self-titled debut CD will explain a lot about the Id’s sound. “It’s been brewing for a long time,” Lichtenberger says. “We focus a lot of our energy on Stephanie’s Id. When it’s time to do it, we do it. With The Archrivals, it’s like we do it when we can. It’s going to be a little different now, I think.”
